New weekly White Dwarf and Wh: Visions

No more monthly White Dwarf
We have had some rumours for a while now regarding White Dwarf going into a smaller weekly format and that we will get a new big magazine called Warhammer: Visions. If you have totally missed out on this here's the official word from GW.

White Dwarf magazine goes weekly!

Saturday 1 February sees the birth of the new, weekly, White Dwarf magazine.

Saturday 1 February sees the birth of the new, monthly, Warhammer: Visions magazine.

Yes, that’s right. We’ll be launching two new magazines on the same day, Saturday 1 February.

White Dwarf, now weekly.

From Saturday 1 February, White Dwarf will be available each and every Saturday exclusively in your local Games Workshop store, Independent Stockist and at games-workshop.com

White Dwarf will contain everything that’s new and exciting in the hobby that week, from news and information on all the week’s other new releases, to new columnists, interviews, painting, modelling, game rules and much more. And the price? The same as a pot of your favourite Citadel paint.

Warhammer: Visions, now monthly.

Warhammer: Visions will be available on the first Saturday every month in your local Games Workshop store, Independent Stockist, games-workshop.com and local newsstands in the UK, Europe and Australia.

Warhammer: Visions is a completely new monthly magazine, also from the White Dwarf team. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever done before and this super high-quality visual feast weighs in at a whopping 236 pages, each and every month.

Just 17 days to go and counting.

After months of planning and hard work, we’re really excited to be able to share this news with you. We were overwhelmed by all the support and feedback you gave us last time we relaunched White Dwarf back in September 2012 (and by your emails and photos that you send us every day – please keep them coming), and we’re even more excited by what we’ve got coming up for you in 2014.

If you can’t wait for Saturday 1 February and want to know more, then your local Games Workshop store manager has more info…

Comment: So what do I think about this? Well first of all I renewed my subscription in Dec so the new Feb issue will be my first magazine in the new format. According to a statement regarding this from GW Helsinki we do know that we will get some kind of offer on how to proceed with the sub. But default will be that we get the new Wh: Visions instead of WD and for no additional cost. This is great if true, but I'm still not totally sure what to think about this.

So the new WD will be a weekly magazine. If I want these as well as the Visions mag each month it get's a little expensive. And just buying the ones I want I need to know each week what's in it and what the new releases are and then buy them. Which in it self is a little more complicated, at least for me who don't have a hobbystore nearby. I have a GW store a 40 min or so away but I can't get into the city each week just to get WD. So I don't know about this, don´t want to buy each separately from the GW online store If I need to pay shipping for them as well etc. but as of now we don't know how GW is going to do this exactly.

Warhammer: Visions sounds really interesting though as the articles mentioned to be in there are my favourites. Also less ads and more hobby stuff is always welcome. Need to see the first issue before I can say anything about it though but it will be really interesting to see.
