Undead Test Models

So have painted some of my Mantic Undead, the background for my army is that this is one of Nagash's armies. Patrolling around Nagashizzar and guarding the sleeping Lich King to once more try to take over the world. More on background story is to come, but with this story in mind I can make my undead army as an VC army or an Tomb Kings army.

My revenants, tried some lightningeffects, it looks decent I think. Also not sure which colors
I want to have on my shields. But I am trying different colour schemes.

For my skeleton test model I tried a red shield, and I think this looks a little bit better, thinks it's to much green on the revenant. Tried green glowing eyes on this one as well, thinks its look quite good, but need some training in this technique. For all three of this models I used the dipping technique with Army Painters Quickshade dark tone. Just basic colours at first, dipped them using a brush to get better control of quickshade. Then I highlighted the models and used Thraka Green Wash to get a greenish effect on the bones on the skeleton warrior and on the armour on the Revenant.

The Ghoul was very easy to paint. I painted the skin first with Tallarn Flesh with a little bit of Gretchin Green in it. Then I highlighted the flesh with the same formula but with a little bit of skull white in it. Then I painted the cloth with Calthan Brown, the Bandages (or whatever it is) with Dheneb Stone, the spikes with Boltgun Metal, and white in the eyes and some Blood red around the mouth. Splashed on some Quickshade, sprayed it with Purity Seal and done. Really simple and thinks he looks menacing.

Don't know what kind of bases I want for them, either muddy with dead grass and stuff or a snowy base.

Kings of War

For you that haven't heard of the Kings of War range from Mantic Games, here comes a brief presentation of what it is. Mantic is rather new company that manufactures wargame miniatures, and their range is more truescale than for example GW's miniatures. So far mantic have done the Elf army, the Undead army and in the making of the Dwarf army. The best thing about their miniatures accept the look really nice is that they are far cheaper than the Games Workshop ones.

I bought the Malak's Legion of Death Army Deal and got all of this: Vampire Lord on Pegasus, Death Kings Cabal, 5 Limited Edition Revenant Knights, 5 Wraiths 2 boxes of Undead Warhost's, with 20 skeletons, 20 Revenants, 10 Ghouls and 1 Warmachine in each one. This deal costed £99, I also bought Mantic Journal Annual Subcription which also gave me Morgoth the Faceless for £10 with a shipping £8 and discount deal they had at the time of 15% I got all of this for the price of £92.65 great deal if you ask me.

Also check out Beasts of War's great coverage of Warhammer 8th Edition as well alot stuff about Mantic's miniatures, for example they have two of mantics fully painted undead and elf armies, I especially love the Elf Dragon. Check them out and sign up at beastsofwar.com

Warhammer 8th Edition

Well it's gone one week since the release of 8th Edition, haven't played anything yet (don't have many other players to play against) but I have tried to make a couple of army lists, read the rules and also painted some new stuff. First off I wanted to show you the poster I got because I was one of first two hundred that ordered my rulebook along with some other things (you had to have an order with a total value of 2000 sek (£150)). I ordered the gamers edition, one fortified manor, 1 corpse cart, 1 box of dire wolves, skull dice, the magic cards deck and all of the citizens of the empire along with a bsb holding the griffonbanner. Check some of the pics below.

Left: The poster with autographs from Jervis Johnson and John Blanche! Right: 8 Ed. book

Just for comparison, down below you have a picture of the 8th ed book besides the 7th editon and 5th and 4th of wh40k. It's that huge! Also a picture of the citizen of the empire, 2 duellists, one merchant and one scribe as well as the bear handler with his bear. The bsb snick in there as well. Great looking miniatures if you ask me, hoping that GW will make more of this kind of figures in the future.

A Logo!

Haven't painted much today, have been tweaking the blog a little bit and trying to learn how it works on blogger. But I have actually painted one thing, a new logo for the blog! I was bored at work and was thinking about logo for the this blog, so I brainstormed some ideas and drew it on paper, and there it was. A demon type of style skull, with an dice in his forehead and crossed brushes, I thought it looked cool so when I got home for lunch I painted more than ate. And voila there's my logo for the site.

First Post in the new blog

So I made another blog because I felt the adress and title of the old one didn't really sounded like the blog I wantad to make. So I made a new one, Dice & Brush! Hope you will enjoy, I will try as hard as I can to update this one as often as I can.

So first of I want to show you some pictures of the stuff I've painted so far. Here is my Wizard Lord, tried to paint him so I can use him as a wizard from various magic lores like Fire, Light and maybe even heavens. Hope you like it.
