WIP Wednesday: Warriors of Chaos

Well I'm in the spot right now where I could have shown you any of twenty other models that are in the WIP stage right now and I want to finish soon. Right now I can't seem to focus on what to paint so I do a little bit of everything (I'm sure all of us have been there right?). The problem is I also want to actually finish something. I have some models very near completion and I don't have a lot more to do on these two that I want to show you.

These are really testmodels though, a Nurgle Knight not made from my blue Nurgle Warriors and a brand new "undividied" Forsaken. The Forsaken will probably be used as either Slaneesh as this guy or Khorne but really don't want to do two full units of them so I do something in between to it can represent any god. Still some work to be done here but I like so far.

Also have a Nurgle chariot in the works in the background.
That's all for today stay tuned for more finished models and any other random blog post I might do.

News: Dungeon Saga continues to grow

Mantic's newest Kickstarter featuring the dungeon crawler game called Dungeon Saga: The Dwarfs Kings Quest is breaking new pledge and is already having more backers than all other Mantic Kickstarters before accept Mars Attacks and Deadzone. There's a lot of time left and much more stuff do unlock, but as you can see below the main box is growing and is by now a really nice deal if you ask me.

In update 17 we also got some info on what's in store for future updates. Really looking forward seeing how they handle the add on expansion and what more we can unlock in this KS campaign. So far I really like what I see and especially now when you can also do solo play so you can play the game yourself if you want to and “Fully Co-op” which means every player plays as the heroes and the AI cards handles the Necromancer. If you haven't already go and check is KS out.

New Stretch Goal

$315,000 – BONUS HERO: Kapoka, Dryad Druid Shapeshifter

Dryads are a long-lived race. They have cared for the forests of the world since time immemorial, and it is rare indeed to see them outside of their wooded realm. Kapoka is one of these few exceptions, his home having been brutally vandalised by an Orc and Goblin army which passed through it. Furious, Kapoka took his leave of the forest to track down the Orc warlord responsible. His natural magical talents rival those of any human druid, and he is able to heal his allies and visit magical destruction on his foes with equal ease.

Kapoka marks a new phase of this Kickstarter campaign.

When the initial funding goal got hit we had a great dungeon crawler on our hands with loads of cool extras like the Adventurer’s Companion, Dungeon Journal and Keldan figure. Since then we’ve been piling stuff into the pledge level as the funding we’ve achieved has allowed us to tool new undead and hero models for the boxed game, as well as exciting new game modes like Solo Play and the A.I. cards, and new Kickstarter Exclusives.

Kapoka however is different: he is not going in the boxed game.

Instead, Kapoka heralds in the first expansion for the game, which has a working title of Dungeon Saga: The Warlord of Galahir. It will see new monsters, new Dungeon tiles, new scenarios, cards, counters and more, in a low-cost Optional Add-on that allows you to go beyond the Undead and play through an all-new adventure with your heroes!

However, we’re not done with The Dwarf King’s Quest boxed game yet and as the funding becomes available, there are some components that we would love to upgrade to plastic. There is also some new stuff that could become possible to add-in.

With that in mind, this second phase is looking very exciting indeed and could open up the doors for a world of new free goodies and more.

If we break this stretch goal, we will produce Kapoka and add him free to your pledge of Dungeon Master ($100 and Early Bird).

Kapoka is a shapeshifter and brings about the Druid class, meaning you’ll be turning nature against your enemies and transforming into nightmarish, animalistic alternate forms. A bear would be quite fun, no?
Kapoka can also be used to represent a male Dryad character in your own adventure.

WoC: Nurgle Warriors repainted and finished

A while ago I decided I wanted to do something else with my WoC army, I just didn't like the look of blue Nurgle warriors or Khorne. They looked perfectly okay but the it was to far from the usual look of them.

So I decided (with the help from you on who read my blog and on Twitter) so change it, and here's how the new Nurgle warriors looks now (also compared to the old blue ones). It was not that much work to repaint these but it did take some time to finish the whole unit up. Might need to add some more washes on some locations but I'm happy with how they turned out. Much more gritty and Nurgle.

Miniature Monday: Cybertronic Exterminateur Attila MK.I

So here's the fourth faction I want to starter paint up for Warzone: Resurrection, Cybertronic! I have had a really hard time deciding what color scheme to choose and have tried many different things now but in the end I ended up with a classic inspired look. And I quite like it I must say. When I finally decided how to paint up I did the actual painting quite fast, airbrush, black undercoat, Citadel 'The Fang' and Vallejo Shadow Grey which is the main color I choose. I then painted the the rest of the details and metal and actually dipped it with Army Painter Dark Tone and it worked out fine I think. I then highlighted the eyes, the Cybertronic markings and the edges of the grey with Shadow Grey again and voila finished. I will try to to the Cyber army quite fast (will not focus on it yet though) so I decided to use AP Quick Shade again.

The thing I like with the Quck Shade is that it's also helps to protect your minis and the paintjob, so on metal minis I almost always go with. Anyway, that it for now. Hope you like it and do make a comment in the comments section below.

Cheers.

Unboxing Warzone: Bauhaus Starter Box

This is the unboxing of the Bauhaus Starter Box for Warzone Resurrection. This is actually an unboxing of two sets as I bought two of them in the Kickstarter, so this is also the first version of the box (Prodos has announced that it will be redone as the Cybertronic and Brotherhood starters). One set is my wave 1 and the other one from wave 2 so I will explain some minor differences here (from what I can tell anyway). So on to the unboxing.

You get the Warlord Angelica Drachen who is a Close Combat Warlord and she is 170 Pts, ten Hussar's which is a Troop choice and is 80 * 2 = 160 Pts, if you go with Rocket Launchers on them (and you should) they are instead 100 Pts for each squad. For last you also get a Light Vehicle choice in the form of the Vulkan Battlesuit worth 115 Pts.

So you get a total of approx; 485 Pts without upgrades other than the two Rocket Launchers.

All the stuff I got in the box, no front cover or anything though as this is the Kickstarter version.

Why do I take a separate picture of the dice? Well because one of them are strictly KS exclusive (the white one with the Bauhaus cog emblem) As it looks right now these won't be coming back anytime soon.

The warlord model in the kit is Angelika Drachen, two head options as you can see. On my Wave 1 the whip was intact but in my wave two it had fell off, not to hard to fix though.

Details are nice and almost to small in some cases, some minor mold lines but a great deal of flash which you can easily brush off with an old toothbrush or similar.

You get ten Hussars so here's one of the sprues for them. Better details on these than on my wave 1 actually. Much less mold lines and overal better quality in my wave 2 box.

There is many parts to assembly to take some time but you also get more options for converting and poses.  You get two Rocker Launchers and two LMG:s in the box or enough arms to make them all having Panzerknacker Assault Rifles.

All the spikes on their helmets are intact. (Pretty much everyone of them had fallen off in my wave 1 so I had to make my own) . The legs are w little to wide, as they almost not fit their own bases and I'm not overly keen on their backpacks, I would have liked more stuff and details here. Like combat knifes, grenades etc.

Better quality on the resin here compared to my wave 1 as well.

And here's the big model in the box, the Vulkan Battlesuit. This is the old KS version as it has now been remade. I do like the old version as well though so I'm glad I have two of them. There are some problems with this one and my first but this latest version actually are worse than my first model.

I won't go into detail but there are some things that are a little mishaped and some things where the detail is a little off (like the big cog) and some moldlines that is hard to fix without much greenstuff work. I have talked with Prodos about this and it is looking like I will get an replacement. I will probably put this together and paint it up as well and cover the things I can't fix to make it look like battle damage. Oh and you get to head alternatives here, an Hussar head and one enclosed.
You get plenty of cards as well in the box, here's the four stat cards and eight resource cards.

Twenty Tactical cards (I really like Angelikas card here, Assassinate. )

Seventen Gear cards, here's a strange thing though. You get five Medpack cards, but in the game currently you can only have three Gear cards in your deck. Have e-mailed Prodos if it should be like this or if something is wrong. (It's the same in the other deck I got for my Wave 1 box, but I got that deck in wave two as well.)

Twenty six Strategy cards as well, and same here. Your only allowed three strategy cards in a deck. Here you got five 'Bunker Down' and that makes it a total of 75 cards like it should be. But there's actually four cards you can't use because you are limited to three Gear/Strategy cards. Not a huge deal but a little bit strange.
So to sum it up, the Bauhaus Starter has some good value Pts wise and they are all useful models to have. Sure you won't really need a second Angelika like I have now when I bought a second starter box but I can always convert here into something useful.

There are some things that aren't perfect, the cards is little bit strange and my Vulkan in my second starter where not that good. But overall the quality have gone up by much since my wave one starter and I'm really looking forward to the new revised version of the box, which I will most probably buy when it's released. But until then I do recommend this version  :)

Unboxing Malifaux: Open Graves Starter Box

Unboxing time! And this is my first Malifaux unboxing, and I will show you the Open Graves box with the Resurrectionists Gang of Nicodem.

Lovely artwork on the box cover
First of all I haven't played Malifaux yet, I hope to do some day but the main reason I bought these was because I really liked the looked of them (along with pretty much the whole Malifaux range) and wanted to paint them up. But due the limited knowledge of the game I won't delve into that at all in my Malifaux unboxings, the purpose of them is just to show you what you get and want I think about the contents. So on to it then...

The back is showing you the models you get in the box

All the contents in the box, white foam so the sprue locked up tight in the box, six bases for the crew, cards and a note with a link to where you can find the instruction manual on how to build your models, not super fond of this as I prefer that you get it in paper form with your models instead but not a huge deal.

Here are all the plastic parts for your models, each model has it's own sprue so you don't need to look for the parts you need.

Other side, lovely details and easy enough to build as well.

You get six stat cards for each of your members, nice layout and easy to read.
You also get six upgrade cards for which four of them is to use with Nicodem, one for Mortimer and one that can be used by either Nicodem or Mortimer.
Nicodem with an Mindless Zombie that should be on the same base as Nicodem. I put him on his own base instead to use him as a marker or an actual Mindless zombie (I'm sure most people actually do the same with this kit) Other than that I really love the look of this model, really cool.

Here's Nicodems Vulture Totem, I did a little extra on the base to give him some height. Cool model.

Mortimer has a lot of character and it shows trough this model, really nice details and I'm looking forward painting this dude.

And the hard hitters, the Punk Zombies, crazy idea but damn they look cool don't they? The swords are a bit fiddly when you glue them and the arms and I can imagine they can be a bit of a pain to transport. But oh so cool models.

And here's the whole gang, looking great don't they? I will have a blast painting these up.
That is all for now, great kit. No trouble putting the models together even if some parts are quite delicate so you have to be careful. As I think you know by now I really like the look and character of all the models in this kit, and I'm really eager to go on and paint them up.

If you are looking for more Malixaux unboxings look no further than this blog; GMorts Chaotica have a LOT of great Malifaux unboxings and are also much into the game so he knows what he talks about, so go and check that out.

Warzone: Imperial Command Group finished!

Well we don't really have command groups in WZ:R... yet anyway. But I thought it would be a fitting name as these two guys will alternative as Warlord/Lord and NCO in my Imperial force.

Really nice to paint as always and soon I consider myself finished painting my Imperial for now, just need one more commander and Rist to be finished as well.

The banner fell off because I was clumsy, I re glued it and it hold quite well but then I was clumsy yet again and then I could not get it to stick properly so I magnetized it instead. I thought it will hold better in transport anyways as standard bearers are always a paint to transport safely.

Anyway they are.
