News: Pics and rules from the new Dark Elves Army Book!

Okey we got to see the new Dark Elves stuff this weekend in White Dwarf. But there where several units missing in this months release actually and we will soon get even more Dark Elves stuff. These pics and info comes via HERO's Gaming Blog, so cheers to him.

That's a potentially solid debuff. What's the Ld of the beasts?
hydra is 6445552(3+remaining wounds)6, 160pts, 4+AS, 20pts for flame breath and 20pts for a 8'' shooting with multiple shots=remaining wounds, s=remaining wounds. kharibdyss is 650755456, 160pts, 4+AS, poison attack, abyssal howl(reroll successful ld test), feast of bones(if all attack hits, auto hit D6 S7 hits afterwards.)

Thank you for your enthusiasm Zhangyi. Do you mind if I ask you about how sea dragon cloak changed in this edition?
well it's now a 5+ scaly skin.

Just guessing now that zhangyi has left, but given that the scroungerunner's cost includes the bolt thrower, I'm quite sure the High Beastmaster can man the bolt thrower.
yes, he takes place of one crew. he get bs7.

Thanks....what are the rules for the Fleet Admiral and the Beastmaster characters?
they're both lord choice. fleetmaster is 155pts with 566433739. he has two hand weapons, light armour and sea dragon cloak. can take 50pts magic items. have a special rule called show no weakness that if he's fighting in a challenge or killed a character and still alive, the unit he joins become unbreakable till the end of that turn. high beastmaster is 300pts which must take a manticore or scourgerunner chariot by free. his 577433839 with spear, light armour and see dragon cloak. can take 100pts magic items. have a special rule called beastslaver that at the start of each of your turns, choose a friendly monster within 3''. that monster get +D3 A till the start of your next turn.

Hydra and Kharibdyss
and one more thing... hydra and the kharibdyss both are monsters now, without handlers. though u can see two on their base, they're nothing about them in the rules.

Magic items aren't that great but everything else seems awesome. Is malus the exact same? What's the pricing on sorcereress and lords?
he's been changed slightly, now the daemon gives him +1 to WS,S,T,I and frenzy. any to hit roll of 1 hit a friendly model in base contact. supreme sorcerer is 185pts with lvl3, dreadlord is 140pts. sorcerer is 80pts with lvl1.

Rules for kuran and tullaris?
kouran 596432739 join bg and make them unbreakable. have a +2s crimson death, and a 5+AS with armour of grief which make a S5 hit every time an opponent hit him. tullaris 566432739 join ex and make them frenzy. have a magic great weapon which called the first draich that gives him 5+KB

Are they champions or moved to hero slots?
moved to hero slot, u see they have w2 both.

Hydra Regen how specifically does it work ? Thank for answering all my questions by the way!
at the end of your phase if it still alive, u roll the number of dice equals the lost wounds. every 4+ it regain a wound.

This is nuts! If I don't go WE I may go with these girls and march and charge them up the field before they can get shot to pieces. Are they khanites and do they get the same bonuses from CoB as WE's?
no they're not brides of khaine, they're arena fighters. COB can give them 6+ ward save if join them... but still if they're 6'' within COB they can reroll all the failed rolls to wound. and COB have a bound spell can make them frenzy.

Which special characters are in, which are out?
they stay the same. no new special characters.

What does the magic item section look like, Do I still have access to the Hydra Banner (fingers crossed)
from my first glance they're not as good as HE. only 10 items, including one 100pts nearly useless sword(hydra blade, +D6 A, every close combat phase u must make a -2LD test or suffer -5WS, but gain HKB.) and one 100pts useless banner(banner of nagarythe, the unit take it will unbreakable). hydra banner is not there any longer, so does the banner make cosair frenzy.

Does Malekith get cheaper? Don't need points just wondering.
yes, he's only 510pts on foot. didnt change much of his rules, now the circlet grants him an bonus dice if failed his casting/dispelling attempts once per magic phase.

points and options for black guard and cold ones pls. Also what does the medusa chariot thing do?
BG=15pts, EX=12pts, cold one knight=30pts. the chariot make units from this book in 6'' +1LD, and all others -1LD, called aura of agony.

Witch Elves keep poison? How does Power of Darkness work? Available lores?
yes they keep poison. power of darkness is one of the two signature spell, which cast on 8+, target the caster's unit. all models in unit get +1S until the caster's next magic phase, and recover D3 casting dice, if you rolled 3 dice, the caster suffer a wound that cant be saved by armour. dark elf have access to all eight lores this time, cheers.

can you list the magic items and new spell lore. Do executioners still have Killing blow or are they now D3 wounds
still KB, not D3 wounds.

rbt and handbow rules? what about the bleakswords? any rules for them? What about shades? do they still have options for great weapons?
rbt is now special and 70pts, u can take four.(yes four) handbow become 12'', the rest stay the same. bleakswords have no other rules have to be metioned, 9pts. shades is 16pts, hand weapon and repeater crossbow, no armour. u can take great weapon or two hand weapons by 2pts/per model.

hows the assassin looking ? Manbane ? Repeater Bows armor piercing ?
90pts with poison attack. can get two hand weapon or a handbow. access to 50pts magic items and one of three poison. one is to wound roll+1, one is KB, the other is if u wound a model, his LD-1 for the rest of the game.

Is there a sac dagger and pendent?
yes the dagger is there. no pendent.

sac dagger
everytime when u cast a spell but before dispelling, u can use the dagger. remove a man from the unit, and roll a D6, 4+ u get an extra dice and must be rolled and add to the result, then opponent try to dispell. if u roll 1-3 then u can try the dagger again and again until you get a dice, or you can simply give up.

WE Initiative?
they're I6

what's the chariot with RBT do ? is it special or core ? thx for the pictures and information!
it's my pleasure:P it's special, cost 150pts, profile is S4 T4 W4 with 5+AS, M9, two crew with spear and repeater crossbow. it has a harpoon launcher, like a bolt thrower but far more powerful. it's S7, 24'' range, and cause D3 wounds. if a monster suffer any wounds from it, the monster will be dragged D6'' directly towards it. if D6>3, the monster suffer another wound with no AS.

What would you say is the best magic item the DE's got? The dagger sounds pretty nice, how much does it cost?
25pts. DE have some "OK" items IMO, but i cant tell which is the best. wait for me to post them.

it looks like the Dark Riders now have shields? Is this a default now, or still an option which causes loss of Fast cav?
it's an upgrade with 1pts/per model. DR can have both light armour and shield without losting fast cavalry.

DE sorcerer cast dark magic gain +1 bouns in casting value. it's called HEKARTIS BLESSING

Warlocks:
they're fast cavalry in rare with state 544431528, and M9 on horse. 25pts/per model. they only have hand weapon, but have 4+ward save except for wounds caused by model with mark of slaanesh or daemon of slaanesh. they're considered to be level2 wizard which is used like pink horrors. +1 for casting value for each extra rank except the first, to a max of +3. they know 2 spells, one is doombolt from DE army book(see #2221), the other is soulblight from lore of death. great unit.

I'm afraid to ask but... how much for a Dark Rider?
16pts per model with light armour. 1pts for shield, 3pts for crossbow.

what's the basic warrior cost ?(without spear , shield , RXB ..)
shield is auto. spear is another auto. 9PTS for spearmen and swordsmen.RXB is 12pts without shield upgrade(+1PTS)

Last masochistic question: Sisters of Slaughters?
they're rare choice with very impressive state 564331629. 15pts/model, with shield and hand weapon. can have a magic banner up to 50pts. 4+ward save in close combat, and every close combat phase it can choose an enemy unit in base contact. they lose parry and rank bonus in combat result.(still can steadfast). if any enemy model in base contact with them have highter WS or S(before weapon matters), they get +1 to hit and wound rolls.

Warriors of Chaos: Skullcrushers unit finished!

You know that satisfying feeling when you finally have finished a painting project. I have that right now and that is because the Skullcrushers unit is finished! Don't get me wrong, it's really fun models to paint up but they do take some time to finish up. And I have been working on them now for a while so it will be nice to concentrate on some other projects now when these are finished.

Just like the first one (the one in the middle) I went with the army wide blue colour scheme and well I must say I like the final result. Was really doubting at first but now when they are done I think it works quite well, despite being blue Khorne followers.

So here they are, c & c is as always very welcome.

News: Dark Elves WD Pictures and Rules!

So at last, some pictures of the new Dark Elves. And they look really cool in my opinion, really nice. Pics comes from:

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.438934142882149.1073741826.152899918152241&type=1

And the rumors via Faet212.

via Scizorsfury on Warseer
The sisters of slaughter are rares: enemies is base contact with them lose rank bonuses.

Hydras are specials can upgrade to get a strength 4 breath attack, no regen but can regrow heads (recover lost wounds) just like the slann can with his discipline.

The kraken thing has a special ability that triggers when all 5 of its attacks hits ( gets an extra attack that inflicts additional hits) has a scaly skin save and causes terror. Enemy models in base contact must re roll successful leadership tests. Both use the monster and handler rules.

They have 2 signature spells just like high magic. One of the spells goes off on a 8+ and grants a unit +1 strength and then you gain D3 power dice but if you gain 3 power dice this way the wizard suffers a wound with no saves allowed.

The army has always strikes first.

Murderous Prowless: models with this rule re roll 1s when rolling to wound.

Wizards casting Dark Magic add plus 1 to their casting attempts.

edit via Scizorsfury
I had the sisters rule mixed up with the kraken monster. They take away rank bonuses

Warriors of Chaos: Lords/Heroes

Warriors of Chaos has quite a few really good and viable choices in both Lords and Heroes, most notably the Nurgle Daemon Prince and Tzeentch BSB. I have a goal of painting a lot of the options open in the WoC list, so far I don't have that many but expect this page to be bigger in the future.

Daemon Prince (Tzeentch/Nurgle)

This is my try to do an dual mark DP. But as the main colour here is blue most people including me tends to view him as an Tzeentch DP. I made some green colours on him as well to try to justify him being a Nurgle DP as well but the more I thought about this the more I think that it doesn't work. I could try to 'Nurglify' him as I have started to do on my Nurgle Warriors and Gorebeast but I don't really want to mess the paint job up on this one just to make him look a little more Nurgle. So Iv'e decided to paint up a new one to have as a Nurgle DP, and in the meantime this one can work.

Tzeentch BSB on a Daemonic Mount

A choice I will probably go with in most lists is this one, which I finished painting up during the summer (2013). I am really fond with the result if I may say so, especially the free hand design inspired from a banner in a old Champions of Chaos book (5th ed I believe). I don't think anyone will argue about this one being marked Tzeentch, Iv'e used the colours I have as the main colours in the army (Enchanted blue and washed black and then re highlighted) and also a lot of gold, typical Tzeentch colours. I have also incorporated some of the designs I try to paint throughout the whole army, like the red eyes.

Sorceror on foot/disc

The first character model I made for my WoC army was this one, a Tzeentch Sorceror. I made some modelling on him to make the burning skull as seen here. It is showing it's age now though I think, he still looks quite good but he doesn't fit with how I paint the warriors right now. I have some ideas on changing the flames for normal red/orange/yellow flames and tidy up the rest of the paint work. I will make a new Sorcerer before though and he works as is as well.

Throgg the Troll King

The first and only special character Iv'e painted for my WoC army is the Troll King himself. Couldn't restist painting up this guy and well he totally badass in the game as well which is of course a bonus. Really like the model actually and the "Finecast" version I got was actually really nice, nothing to complain about.

News: Forgeworld shows us Ferrus Manus !

Got a mail from Forgeworld with a video showing us the first of the Primarchs that stays loyal to the Emperor, Ferrus Manus of the Iron Hands legion. Really cool looking just like the Primarchs done before. Down below you can watch the video and what they wrote in the mail.

The Primarch of the Iron Hands Legion was a figure of legend amongst the peoples of his home world of Medusa, named by them ‘the Gorgon’ after the most ancient of mythic creatures. Ferrus was amongst the strongest of the Primarchs, reflected in this giant figure, dwarfing many of his brother Primarchs.

Forge World will be attending UK Games Day, held on Sunday 29th September at the NIA in Birmingham, and Ferrus Manus, the latest model in our Horus Heresy Character series, will be available to purchase on the day. As part of our Games Day UK previews, we have a feature on the Forge World Visual Feed about the Primarch of the Iron Hands Legion. In our latest video, designer Simon Egan talks about how he created the model of the Gorgon and how it can be incorporated with Fulgrim to form a stunning diorama.

You can also watch Edgar Skomorowski talking about Erebus and Kor Phaeron, our trailer for The Horus Heresy Book Two – Massacre as well as a video of writer Alan Bligh talking about what you can expect to find in this forthcoming book here.

If you would like to stay up to date with the Forge World Visual Feed of videos dedicated to our latest releases, simply select the Subscribe option in our YouTube channel. This will ensure you receive a notification every time we add new videos.

Alongside Ferrus Manus, The Horus Heresy Book Two – Massacre, Erebus and Kor Phaeron, and the Tau XV107 R'varna Battlesuit will also be available to purchase at Games Day UK. There will be a limited number of these pre-release products there on the day so we suggest that you turn up early at our Sales stand to avoid disappointment. If you would like to purchase a ticket for this event, click here.

We are still taking reservation orders for Games Day UK for non pre-release product. Click here to find out how to place a reservation order. The cut-off for placing reservation orders is 6pm (UK time) today.

Thanks,
Forge World Sales Team

The Empire: Halfling Hot Pot finished!

The Halfling hot pot is done! Sadly you can't have them in games anymore, well not since 5th ed anyway. Well I will incorporate some Halflings into this army anyway and even GW which still sells this model is suggesting to use this as an Helstorm Rocket Launcher instead, and that is my intention as well. Will probably not use it much in gaming anyway since the Rocket Launchers suck pretty much but still a fun choice to have in the army. And the models are such classics.¨

I made my own base for these using four cav bases to make it into a chariot base instead, not really satisfied with the result but I didn't have any spare Chariot bases so this will have to do. Other than that I'm happy with how the turned out, the yellow needs some more work, especially on front guy where you can see his back on the second pic. It needs one more highlight I think.

So what do you think, you like these classic models? And do you want to see Halflings again in future Empire releases? I sure want that to happen. Tell me in the comments.

Army Showcase: Warriors of Chaos

This is the first showcase page Iv'e done and the idea is to have one for each of the armies I have (with at least some painted models in it). Because of how the blogger system is working the easiest way of doing this is to simply make a new blog post and then link them together. So this first one will be quite simple with an overview look of the army as it looks like now and then have direct links to each section (Lords/Heroes, Core, Special and Rare). The reason why I divide them is because this page would be to pic heavy if I had all the pictures here. So just follow the links to see more pictures and info.

Miniature Monday 'Empire and Halflings'

Monday again and here's what I'm been up to in the hobby lately. As always I have a hard time concentrating on one thing and finish that and then move on to a new painting project. So I run several painting projects, converting projects etc. in the same time instead. So right now I quite much going on but I try to stay to the projects I will now tell you about.

WoC

I love painting this army, you can to do much modelling wise with WoC and you have so many different monsters and units, and they are all expensive as well so you don't need to paint that many to make a army of 2400-2500 Pts.

The stuff I have been working on is the two Skullchrushers I started long ago, still some things to do on them but I hope I will finish them this week (despite being on a business trip for the three coming days). After them I will try to paint up the Mutalith Vortex Beast, and I'm really looking forward painting this beast up.

After that I will do three more Warriors to complete the Nurgle unit, I also have a Sorcerer in the pipeline.

Empire

Painting some Empire stuff again, first of I will complete the Halfling Hot Pot in the next coming days, it is almost finished but I will probably not finish it before I go tomorrow. After that I have some quite exciting stuff for Empire because I bought some new models which are already painted, and quite nice as well.

So I don't need to re paint all that much, and the best part is I don't need to paint any of the first basic colours which is the most boring part of painting models in my opinion. Also they where really nicely kit bashed with the Greatswords kit and got heads from plenty number of kits which is really nice (the Halberdiers). That is all for now c & c is as always very welcome.

Review: White Dwarf September 2013

My WD arrived as it should this time around but I haven't really had time to write this review until now. It is a quite nice issue, if you like Space Marines of course. So on to the review...

New Releases

The main thing as always in WD is the new releases and I doubt anyone had missed out on which army would a new Codex this time around. The Space Marines is back and we have all seen the pictures heard the new rules etc. So we knew pretty much everything regarding this release. We get a new Codex of course (I got my copy today and it is awesome) and some new kits, including those Centurions (still dislike the look of these, much cooler in the artwork I must say) a favourite kit of the new ones is the Sternguard, where you get some great models and some much needed combi weapons as well.

We get really nice pictures of all the new kits, all of them in Ultra smurfs colours but also some small pictures of White Scars, Imperial Fists, Crimson Fists and Iron Hands. More diversity here would have been nice. We also get some pictures and information regarding the new Codex and shows us some of it's pages.

The Good

This month's Battle Report is an really interesting one and spans over 18 pages! Matt Hutson is using his really big army of Black Templars and is going off against an evil Chaos Nurgle coalition of Chaos Space Marines and Daemons. It has big pictures again and is nice and easy to read, still I think a little more Narrative had made it even better, but still a really nice Battle Report.

In Army of the Month we luckily don't get too see even more Space Marines as this time we get to see Owen Patten's Chaos Ogres. It may not be the best painted army Iv'e seen but surely one with the most conversions. He uses a wide variety of kits and I think that all of his miniatures has so kind of conversion, really nice army.

In Parade Ground we see photos from the Throne of Skulls event, some really nice ones, among them Mark Wildman's (from Bad Dice Podcast) Savage Orcs and my personal favourites, Dan Seymour's Dark Elves. Especially diorama is very cool.

In Hall of fame this month Glenn (WD Photo Editior) nominates ones of my favourite models, the Arachnarok Spider. I usually don't fancy this segment that much but this one has some interesting insight from the Aly Morrison (one of the sculptors on the model).

Armour trough the Ages is an article about... you guessed it. Power Armour. Really interesting read actually about how the design of the different marks developed and some history behind them. Strangely we don't get to see any of the Forgeworld models and the article could have been more fleshed out to make it even better, but a nice read nonetheless.

The War Diary continues and we get more really nice models to look at. We get two pages for Dan Hardens Empire showing his War Altar of Morr (where he has borrowed the idea of using Arch Confessor Kyrinov as a Morr priest from me actually, well I think so because he made a comment about me using him as a Priest/Arch Lector whent I sent him pictures of my Empire Army). We also get so his Great Swords and Display board.

The Bad

I should rename this I guess, because nothing is really bad in this issue. Some things could have been better though. For example the Kit Bash section, here we get a Kit Bash between three kits pretty much, the new Space Marine kit, Sternguard Kit and Vanguard Kit. Sure the models looks nice but I think we all can do that. Sure the name of it is Kit Bash but I think you can go further and make even more interesting models using more kits.

Paint Splatter again it's not bad, but could be better. We get to see how to paint Space Marines and SM Tanks using drybrushing, so quite basic actually. There's some more focus on a Centurion and Ultra Marines but we get some basic tips on Black Templars, Imperial Fists, Crimson Fists, Salamanders and White Scars as well.

Conclusion

I like this issue, but if you dislike Space Marines, this is probably not the issue for you. There are still things I would like to see in future WD:s though. More fluff for example, I remember those Index Astertes in the old WD for example, something like that would be cool. Then I would also liked to see more from the other chapters and their succesor chapters in this issue, little to much of the smurfs for my liking.

Another thing I would have liked to see is and I know they don't do this no more, example army lists using each of Chapter Tactics. Like how an Iron Hands army could look like, Salamanders etc.

All in  all this is an nice issue and I won't be so harsh with the rating as I maybe where in the last one so here it is.
