Miniature Monday weekly roundup

I don't have many regular segment posts at the moment but that is about to change. This Miniature Monday weekly update idea came originally from Heelanhammer I think, where we practically just showed what we are painting or doing hobby wise right now and put it on Twitter with #MiniatureMonday. I will put this on Twitter as well but I will also go a little bit further and show you what I have been painting and modelling that last week as a sort of a round up.

So what have I'm been doing this past week then?

Lately I have had a big focus on my WoC, this will continue but I will now start to finish some unfinished units and models for my Empire as well. And here's what I want to paint up and finish first.

I have been working mostly on my Empire this week with my Halfling Archers and Human Archers, these will take a a little more time before they are finished though but here's some WIP pics.

A lot more do do on these models as you can see, I have three models that are close to completion however. Unfortunately the camera batteries run dry so I couldn't take any pictures this time. I have a Empire Grey Wizard which I want to finish, inspired by Warhammer Quest. A female Middenlander youngblood for Mordheim which I will use as an flagellant. Iv'e also started to convert two new Knights of the Black Rose which I have started to paint up as well.

And some non Empire stuff as well, my Bauhaus Kommando Sergeant is soon finished I hope just some things with the base and final highlights.

That's all for now, I hope next Miniature Monday will be better with more pictures and actual finished model. Cheers!

Warzone: Resurrection pics from Grumpy Wargamers Con

Finally it is here Grumpy Wargamers Convention, and why am I so excited fro this event I can't even attend to you ask? Well they are showcasing the rules and some of the models for the first time for the public for one. And I must say it looks awesome even if it's kind of hard to see on some of the blurry pictures.

Remember though, these are not studio painted or anything and of varied quality, also more importantly is that the rulebook pics are still WIP and Alakahi the cunning will be bigger when the final model is released.

All these pictures comes from two users ishibei and eisenhorn over at the Warzone Forum and can be found here and here.

New Blog design!

So it has happened, the blog is now in a light/white theme instead of the previous dark/black theme and this kind of change in looks haven't happened since I changed skins two years or so ago. So why did I change it? Well mostly because I think it will look overall better with all my pictures usually having bright backgrounds and also most people tend to read better with black text and white background.

I was really easy to do actually I change the layout design slightly in Blogger and changed the background this standard of with paint splatter which I found fitting. I then searched for a suitable font for the 'Dice and Brush' headline and found this one called Dirty and Classic, really cool looking and works really well with the rest of the theme.

Not a very interesting post maybe but I'm quite excited by this change of design and I hope you like it too.

Warhammer Quest for iOS: First impressions

For you who don't know Warhammer Quest was an RPG Boardgame published by GW back in 1995. You have a group of warriors who seek fame and fortune in the depths of the old world on a grid based board, doing quests, slaying monsters and earning experience and better equipment in the process.

I didn't play it back then I'm afraid and have never played after either even if I've always thought that it sounds like a really fun game. Anyway, last week Rodeo Games released their take on the game for all iOS devices including iPhone, iPad and iPod.

I bought it the other day and have now played several hours and I struggle to put away my iPhone because it's so addictive and fun. The game in itself isn't that complicated it's pretty much exactly like the old boardgame, it's just really fun and you think; 'just one dungeon more and then I'm done' and one hour later you think the same again.

I went with the standard group first (you can buy additional three characters if you want), Marauder, Grey Wizard, Waywatcher and Ironbreaker and it works really well, especially now when you got the hang of it.

So do I recommend it? Yes I do, for measly $4.99 you a great game for your iOS device (I normally doesn't rate iOS games) even if your a Warhammer fan or not. But if you are It's a must buy in my opinion. May do a proper review when I have finished the game later.

News: Warhammer Forge Merwyrm

We have seen WIP pictures of this beast before but here's the finished and beautifully painted version. And I must say I'm usually not a hug fan of Trish Carden and her monster designs but this one is looking really cool and menacing. I might buy it when I have painted the WH Forge stuff I already have.

I got the pictures from their Newsletter and more pictues and info can be found on their webpage here.

Info from Warhammer Forge Newsletter below:

The seas of the Old World are home to many dark horrors, not least of which are the dreaded Merwyrms. These ancient creatures stalk the depths of the ocean in search of prey, propelled at great speed by their long tail and sinuous body.
Dry land is no sanctuary against these voracious monsters however, and when food is scarce they have been known to assault coastal villages, devouring their inhabitants and leaving little but a trail of devastation in their wake. Many armies in the Warhammer World, particularly the High Elves, have used binding scrolls to unleash the might of Merwyrms against their enemies.
The Merwyrm is depicted coiled around the wreck of a boat, whose hapless crew have done little to sate this vicious creature’s boundless hunger.
The model measures approximately 155mm (6") long and 130mm (5") tall to the tip of its tail, and rules for these nightmares of the deep can be found in Monstrous Arcanum. The Merwyrm, designed by Trish Carden, is a multi-part resin kit that is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday June 28th.

Warzone: Bauhaus third attempt and Reinforcements!

A while ago I did any painting update, sorry for that have been quite busy with a lot of other things lately I'm afraid. But I have finished painting up this little dude which is a Bauhaus Ducal Militia Sergeant. This is the third attempt at what colour scheme I want for my Bahaus army, and I think that I'm closer than ever with this third test mini.

I went with an darker grey on the shoulder pads and armour plates and a new camo variant which I actually liked really much. You can see how he looks down below and under him together with the two previous test minis. Please tell me what you think and which one you like the best.

I also made a new purchase from Prince August like a month ago and got my new stuff a while back, among some of the old Warzone books they still have in stock and some Imperial miniatures I will show you in a different post I also bought some additional stuff for my Bauhaus army as well (I just can't for my WZR miniatures to show up!).

As you can see, a box of Jungle Kommandos (of of my favourite Bauhaus units) which I want to start to paint up asap. I also bought a Ducal Militia GL Specialist and a HMG Team which I will change the base for when I get a 50 mm lipped base. I also got three Blitzers (another one of my favourite units), sadly they just have these poses as of now, the Sergeant (left), Kapitan with Gehenna Puker (middle) and PLR Specialist. So anyone that have some lying around and want to get rid of them (why would you?!) please contact me here or on my mail! I also bought Kapitan Konrad Von Juntz but couldn't find when I took the pics. Will be awesome to paint these up though and I'm really looking forward seeing more of the miniatures in the new WZR game.

News: July WD cover leaked. Wh40 Apocalypse!

Found this pic of the next WD cover on Facebook. So apperantly we get Apocalypse next month, and well that thing on cover is a new Chaos Khorne Lord of Battle first found in WH40k Epic but now will arrive in ordinary 40k as well. Can't say I really like the look of it even if I like the thought bringing in Epic models into  40k game. I can only hope we may see some Warmaster models doing the same.
