Minature Monday: Stormcast Eternals Starter Set finished

Hey there, this will be my biggest Miniature Monday so far. It's actually not one, but two new units that is finished and that concludes the whole Stormcast Eternals part of the AoS Starter Set finished. I know I know, some guys finished it in a week. But I'm a slow painter, and I might have done some other bits and bobs in the meantime.

Anyway, glad it's finished and I must say I really like the look of it. Currently painting my Celestant-Prime and I have more reinforcements to the army. Will also buy some of the newest kits, dracoth cav riders looks awesome.

Next up is my second unit of Liberators. I will add more models to both units so they get their big weapons as well.

And I also finished my Prosecutors, damn hard to get good pictures of a whole unit of these, so I took a couple. Like how they turned out though and will add a second unit of these from the starter set.

Warriors of Chaos: Rare Choices

There's a lot of Rare choices in the Warriors of Chaos army, and a lot of different types as well. I have just completed a few of them so far, but more will come in the future. I have a Shaggoth, another Hellcannon and a Chaos Giant as some of the future projects for my WoC army.

But here's what Iv'e finished so far.

Mutalith Vortex Beast
I had to start with this guy, I really love the model and it's probably one of the best paint jobs Iv'e done as well so I quite proud of him. Took forever to paint up but was also really fun to paint. I actually followed GW's Painting Guide for the iPad when I did the colors for him so If you want to do something similar try download that. For more pics, go here.

Skullcrushers
Often considered one of the best units in the game, of course I needed to paint some of them up. I did them in the blue colors as the rest of my army. I don't want an full blue army anymore so I will change it, still don't really know how though and it pains me that I have to redo them as I think the actual paint job is nice, just the wrong colors. I will probably go with black instead of the blue and do some more red, maybe continue on the lava/magma thing I have going on on the weapons. For pictures showing the old blue color scheme go here.

Hellcannon
This piece is a classic by now. Many do convert other models to represent the Hellcannon but I think it looks so good on it's own it's a shame not paint at least one of them up. I own two of them and both av them are in Finecast and is much easier to assemble than the old metal ones. The paint job is inspired by the Eavy Metal team who did a new paint job when they released the Finecast version, when I saw it I knew I had to get one and do a similar color scheme, I'm very pleased with how it turned out in the end. Took a long time to finish though. More pictures can be found here.

Chaos Spawn
I have plenty of the spawns on the to do list (mostly because I have the models) but I finished this old classic metal model first as it where painted but not finished for quite some time. I like the old model even if you get a lot more diversity in the new plastic kit. The paint job is not special really but it looks okey in my opinion. More pictures can be found here.

Miniature Monday: Imperial Force progress and Trenchers

I have had these finished for a while now but did the basing just the other day so now they are totally finished. Awesome miniatures to paint just as the first five, I did some weapon swaps to get some more variation in poses and weapons. I also post two pictures to show you my progress of my Imperial Force, it's quite large now but you might see that I severely lacking Warlord choices, so that is what I will be focusing on for now and paint up 1 Imperial Commander, 1 Commander/NCO with Banner, Brigadier Rist and I'm also toying with the idea of doing a custom 'Hero of the Solar system' and if so I will do an Blood Beret commander with an upgraded Charger.

Miniature Monday: More Undead Legionnaires!

I had a goal to finish painting up two Warzone Starter sets for Gothcon which where this weekend. And I actually did it, the Bauhaus starter is finished and now the Dark Legion starter is finished as well. The last Undead Legionnaires are now finished. It is really great to have these mini goals to make you paint even more just to get it done in time.

And it feels great when you achieve what you set out to do and now when these two starter sets are finished I can concentrate on some other stuff, and that is mainly; paint more Warzone stuff.

I want to 'upgrade' the starters now and I have a plan to paint up five Venusian Rangers and Max Steiner for my Bauhaus and two Necromutants and Golgotha for the Dark Legion. Between them I will probably start to paint some Imperial as well, but I'm still unsure about colour scheme here.

I must paint some WHFB stuff as well but It's hard to get the time for that right now, especially now when I have tried the game (Warzone: Resurrection ) and loved how it played. But if I get the time I want to finish up painting my Gyrocopter, a Dwarf cannon and two Chaos Trolls, I also must finish painting my Empire Celstial Hurricanum some day as well. Hate those not even half finished projects. Anyway that's all for know, as always comments are very much welcome.

Warriors of Chaos: Special Choices

WoC have quite a lot of Special choices, but one thing that I think stand out with WoC's special choices is how many different unit types you have, you have chariots like the Gorebeast and Warshrine (kind of), monsters like Chimeras, really heavy troops in the Chosen, really fast cavalry with the Hellstriders, Chaos Knights, monstrous infantry with the Trolls and Ogres and even Monstrous Beasts in the Dragon Ogres. So that's almost all the units types you can have just in the Special's.

Sadly a lot things are much better than others, but as WoC is a really tough army as it is you can take any of these and still win a lot of games. I have models for all of the Special choices but I have't painted up so much yet. But here's what Iv'e got painted so far.

Chimera

First of the things I painted in the army was this guy. I actually really like the sculpt (many people do not) but I will convert my second one when I start on him. I went with a mostly light blue on this guy and some transitions to other colours on two of the heads. In the end I like how he turned out.

Gorebeast Chariot of Nurgle

I painted this guy for a long time, mainly due the fact I didn't know how to keep him blue but also look like a follower of Nurgle. In the end he looks like this, quite happy with the result but may redo some of the rust etc.

Chaos Trolls

Trolls is awesome in this edition and the Chaos Trolls in no exception, especially not when Throgg is around as well. So I have to do a big unit of these monsters, and at first I will do a unit of twelve. I'm not there yet but some of them is finished and I have the rest of the troll models (mostly River Troll models) just need to build, convert and paint the rest. Which is no small task as I want to take my time on each of these lovely models.

Dragon Ogres

The new Dragon Ogre models was one of the best looking units in the last WoC release, so I just had to get them. Waited quite a while before I started to paint one of them but I'm happy with the end result. Just one models is finished so far but there will be at least three when this unit is done.

Chaos Ogres

Sadly no popular choice despite them not actually being that bad. I bought eight Irongut models that I want to convert a little and paint up as Chaos Ogres. I choose a blue tone on these as well as the rest of the army but will only paint eight pointed stars and what not and use them with any mark I want, not just Tzeentch. Only the standard bearer is finished so far and you can see him below, hopefully I will have a nice unit of eight before the year is finished.

Warriors of Chaos full army shot

Just another little update on my WoC army, an uppdated army shot with the latest additions since the last photo. Hope you like it and I will continue to build and paint this army up, planning on painting the Trolls to 12 Trolls strong, a unit of 8 Chaos Ogres, a unit of three Dragon Ogres, a unit of ten Knights, a lord on a disc, a unit of 18 Forsaken and 18 Chosen and... oh well I have a lot more to do with this army that's for sure.

Warriors of Chaos: Lords/Heroes

Warriors of Chaos has quite a few really good and viable choices in both Lords and Heroes, most notably the Nurgle Daemon Prince and Tzeentch BSB. I have a goal of painting a lot of the options open in the WoC list, so far I don't have that many but expect this page to be bigger in the future.

Daemon Prince (Tzeentch/Nurgle)

This is my try to do an dual mark DP. But as the main colour here is blue most people including me tends to view him as an Tzeentch DP. I made some green colours on him as well to try to justify him being a Nurgle DP as well but the more I thought about this the more I think that it doesn't work. I could try to 'Nurglify' him as I have started to do on my Nurgle Warriors and Gorebeast but I don't really want to mess the paint job up on this one just to make him look a little more Nurgle. So Iv'e decided to paint up a new one to have as a Nurgle DP, and in the meantime this one can work.

Tzeentch BSB on a Daemonic Mount

A choice I will probably go with in most lists is this one, which I finished painting up during the summer (2013). I am really fond with the result if I may say so, especially the free hand design inspired from a banner in a old Champions of Chaos book (5th ed I believe). I don't think anyone will argue about this one being marked Tzeentch, Iv'e used the colours I have as the main colours in the army (Enchanted blue and washed black and then re highlighted) and also a lot of gold, typical Tzeentch colours. I have also incorporated some of the designs I try to paint throughout the whole army, like the red eyes.

Sorceror on foot/disc

The first character model I made for my WoC army was this one, a Tzeentch Sorceror. I made some modelling on him to make the burning skull as seen here. It is showing it's age now though I think, he still looks quite good but he doesn't fit with how I paint the warriors right now. I have some ideas on changing the flames for normal red/orange/yellow flames and tidy up the rest of the paint work. I will make a new Sorcerer before though and he works as is as well.

Throgg the Troll King

The first and only special character Iv'e painted for my WoC army is the Troll King himself. Couldn't restist painting up this guy and well he totally badass in the game as well which is of course a bonus. Really like the model actually and the "Finecast" version I got was actually really nice, nothing to complain about.

Army Showcase: Warriors of Chaos

This is the first showcase page Iv'e done and the idea is to have one for each of the armies I have (with at least some painted models in it). Because of how the blogger system is working the easiest way of doing this is to simply make a new blog post and then link them together. So this first one will be quite simple with an overview look of the army as it looks like now and then have direct links to each section (Lords/Heroes, Core, Special and Rare). The reason why I divide them is because this page would be to pic heavy if I had all the pictures here. So just follow the links to see more pictures and info.
