Miniature Monday: Warriors of Nurgle

It's that time of the week again, Miniature Monday! Have much more stuff going on but struggling getting stuff finished. Been moving houses as well as my man cave but it's finally starting to get done so I can focus some more on painitng, and posting stuff on the blog!

Oh and I have been playing videogames as well, Fallout 4 is taking a LOT of my spare time lately. Anyways, here's first five of my rebased Nurgle army. I redid the bases from scratch on these, as I wanted more of a swamp theme. And I liked the result. Really looking forward painting some more Nurgle stuff soon, I have yet to start on my Maggot Lord, Morbidex. Glottkin and some Putrid Blight Kings... and much more stuff!

Video Unboxing: Warhammer Fantasy - The Glottkin

Yeah it finally happened, my first ever Youtube video and first Video unboxing. Altough this first video is really simple and just made using Youtube (and some GIMP for photo editing) it was really fun. Sure I sound awful but I think this format is better suited for some unboxings and other stuff. So expect some more of these, hopefully better though. Please tell me what you think in the comments below.

Miniature Monday: Nurgle Plaguebearer

Here's my first test model for how I wanted to paint up my Plaguebearers. Nothing fancy or special but I like it and will work nice together with the rest of my Chaos army. If people are interested I will also do an little tutorial soon to show you how I paint my Plaguebearers.

In the meantime, C & C is much welcome! (Oh and sorry for the poor pics here, will do better when I show more of my Plaguebearers)

Miniature Monday: Nurgle Gorebeast Chariot

I painted this like a year ago but now it is repainted in my new Nurgle colors, a much more grim, dark and.... well black color scheme.

I dunno but it was a pain in the ass to even get this poor photos of this thing. So sorry this will have to do for now, at least you see hoe the color scheme looks now.

That's it for today, if you want to compare to the old scheme follow this link. Please tell me what you think.

WoC: Nurgle Warriors repainted and finished

A while ago I decided I wanted to do something else with my WoC army, I just didn't like the look of blue Nurgle warriors or Khorne. They looked perfectly okay but the it was to far from the usual look of them.

So I decided (with the help from you on who read my blog and on Twitter) so change it, and here's how the new Nurgle warriors looks now (also compared to the old blue ones). It was not that much work to repaint these but it did take some time to finish the whole unit up. Might need to add some more washes on some locations but I'm happy with how they turned out. Much more gritty and Nurgle.

Conversions Corner: Daemon Prince of Nurgle

Conversions Corner is my posts where I show you.... yeah you guessed it. Conversions. They may be simple kit bashing sometimes or more complicated stuff, but I post something up when I think someone might find it interesting.

So on on to this conversions then. It will be my Daemon Prince of Nurgle for my WH Fantasy Warriors of Chaos army. I already have a more standard looking DP already so wanted to do something else with this one. So I bought the old Necron C'tan Shard called The Nightbringer. Really awesome model and always has been, I always wanted to do something with even if I don't want to collect Necrons.

So I made into a Nurgle DP, my version as well as the original sculpt really is something to look like death incarnate. I added wings from an old zombie dragon kit, shoulder pads from the Chaos Knight kit and shield and skull (on the scythe) from Wulfrik the Wanderer.

Did some minor greenstuff work here and there but the biggest work was to pin the model and the heavy parts (the body and wings are all metal as you can see). The base is mostly made up of a part of the Arcane Ruins set.

That is all really, not that difficult but I think it will look really nice when painted up and all. So do visit the blog again in the future to see the painted and finished model.

Miniature Monday: Warriors of Chaos repaint? and tokens..

Some of you might now I'm a real sucker for repainting my armies (I'm currently in the process of repainting my ex ungreenskinz for example). Until now I was content with how much of my WoC army looks. It is one thing that do bother me a little though, my blue warriors which aren't marked Tzeentch. I painted them blue anyway and did other things to mark them out as Nurgle etc. I where never sure about this route though and now I have decided to try something else.

Black/grey Warriors of Chaos with added rust for Nurgle, extra brass parts on Khorne etc. And small edge highlights with "their colors" this makes them still stand out, look good together with my other blue Tzeentch warriors and monsters and make them look more like they should in my opinion. Another thing that is that it makes it less tedious painting all the blues all the time.

Please help me out here once again as you did when I was unsure about my ungreenskinz. Below are my first black Nurgle test model, repainted from the blue version. What do you think, which one looks the best and do you think that my ideas will work and still make it look like a cohesive army?

Also in this Mini Monday, two tokens in very different styles for Warzone: Ressurection!

Warriors of Chaos: Special Choices

WoC have quite a lot of Special choices, but one thing that I think stand out with WoC's special choices is how many different unit types you have, you have chariots like the Gorebeast and Warshrine (kind of), monsters like Chimeras, really heavy troops in the Chosen, really fast cavalry with the Hellstriders, Chaos Knights, monstrous infantry with the Trolls and Ogres and even Monstrous Beasts in the Dragon Ogres. So that's almost all the units types you can have just in the Special's.

Sadly a lot things are much better than others, but as WoC is a really tough army as it is you can take any of these and still win a lot of games. I have models for all of the Special choices but I have't painted up so much yet. But here's what Iv'e got painted so far.

Chimera

First of the things I painted in the army was this guy. I actually really like the sculpt (many people do not) but I will convert my second one when I start on him. I went with a mostly light blue on this guy and some transitions to other colours on two of the heads. In the end I like how he turned out.

Gorebeast Chariot of Nurgle

I painted this guy for a long time, mainly due the fact I didn't know how to keep him blue but also look like a follower of Nurgle. In the end he looks like this, quite happy with the result but may redo some of the rust etc.

Chaos Trolls

Trolls is awesome in this edition and the Chaos Trolls in no exception, especially not when Throgg is around as well. So I have to do a big unit of these monsters, and at first I will do a unit of twelve. I'm not there yet but some of them is finished and I have the rest of the troll models (mostly River Troll models) just need to build, convert and paint the rest. Which is no small task as I want to take my time on each of these lovely models.

Dragon Ogres

The new Dragon Ogre models was one of the best looking units in the last WoC release, so I just had to get them. Waited quite a while before I started to paint one of them but I'm happy with the end result. Just one models is finished so far but there will be at least three when this unit is done.

Chaos Ogres

Sadly no popular choice despite them not actually being that bad. I bought eight Irongut models that I want to convert a little and paint up as Chaos Ogres. I choose a blue tone on these as well as the rest of the army but will only paint eight pointed stars and what not and use them with any mark I want, not just Tzeentch. Only the standard bearer is finished so far and you can see him below, hopefully I will have a nice unit of eight before the year is finished.

Warriors of Chaos: Nurgle Warrior Unit finished!

Yay, at last I finished painting this unit. Well I will upgrade it into 24 men strong eventually but unit then this 18 men strong unit will do. I must say I'm quite pleased with how the unit turned out in the end, and in my mind they do look Nurgle enough despite having blue armour, or what do you think?

The last three I made, may do some more with the skellie. I quite like skellie heads in bulky Chaos armour.

Warriors of Chaos: Core Troops

Warriors of Chaos has a really nice mix of Core units, of course Chaos Warriors but also great chaff units like Warhounds and Marauder Horsemen and even Chaos Chariots which are great! Anyhow I have painted some of the basic units I want to use, but also have quite a lot left to do here, mainly paint up Chariots, more Warriors/Warhounds and Marauder Horsemen but also those units I may not use as much, Marauders on foot and Forsaken.

Here's what I have completed so far though, comments is always welcome.

Warriors of Tzeentch

First unit I started to paint for this army army and the colour scheme I later based all of my on. They are now 22 men strong but will be 24 men strong when finished, Most of the unit is just bits from the warriors kit but there are also banner, weapons and heads from Chaos Knights kit and a head from the new Chariot kit. As you can see there's also two Pink Horrors in there, really like those 6th ed models and will probably add some more of them. If you want to now how I painted these, there's a Painting Tutorial here

Warriors of Nurgle

I wanted a Nurgle unit as well, with halberds, but I wanted them to be in blue like rest of the army and still look like they belong Nurgle. This is the result, and I'm quite pleased with it. I added a lot of Nurgle bits like heads from the Forsaken kit and Chariot Kit and a old banner from Beastmen Pestigors. All Halberds is from the metal GW kit where you buy ten Halberds which fits perfectly into the sockets on the arms of the models. I also used the metal Nurgle icons on some of the Shields here. I also added some Daemons to this unit with some old 6th ed metal Plaguebearers.

Warhounds

Among the first models I painted for this army was two of the Warhounds and then for some reason it took more than a year before I actually finished these two units. I'm quite happy with how they look, but I will go with something different on the next ones. These will then count as normal Warhounds and new ones as Vanguarding dogs.

Chaos Chariot of Tzeentch
Probably the most popular choice now a days is the Chariot, why? Well it's Core and they are awesome! I haven't painted many yet, just one ordinary chariot and one Gorebeast which you will see in the Special section. The first of the Core chariots is an Tzeentch chariot, which is probably the most uncommon of the marks accept Undivided. I wanted to do this conversion since I first saw the DoC Tzeentch Chariot, and down below is the the result. More pics here.

Miniature Mon(Tues)day 'WoC and Empire'

Yea didn't make it yesterday so once again we get a miniature Tuesday instead, but that is okey as content is the same anyway. So what have I been doing hobby related the past week? Well painting mostly but not as much as I would have liked. I really want to finish up painting as much as possible before I get my Warzone: Resurrection miniatures (and I will get a lot of them) as they have already started to show up at some of the backers of their kickstarter, we how have more complicated orders with a lot of stuff in it (like me) will have to wait some further so here's the chance to paint up as much as possible of my Warhammer stuff before I will focus a lot on Warzone.

So what have I been painting on then?

Warriors of Chaos
When I finally finished painting the Skullchrushers opportunities opened up to paint some other things, and the one thing I wanted to paint for some time now is the Mutalith Vortex Beast. Really fun model to paint but it will take some time to complete.

Some other things I want to do next is the Nurgle Chaos Ogre from Kromlech, I have just started to paint him up now and will do an tutorial on how I paint him up, so look out for that one in the future.

The Empire
Got plenty of Empire stuff on the painting table as well, I'm in the process of change colour scheme and tidy up the paint work on 10 Handgunners and 20 Halberdiers, it is going forward but slower than expected because I still find a lot of new things on them that needs to be fixed painting wise. Still really nice kit bashed conversions though and all of the have a lot of character. I need to get on with the Knights and Hurricanum as well but it will be after the State troopers are done I reckon.

So that is all for now, a new Miniature Monday (or Tuesday) next week.

Warriors of Chaos: Lords/Heroes

Warriors of Chaos has quite a few really good and viable choices in both Lords and Heroes, most notably the Nurgle Daemon Prince and Tzeentch BSB. I have a goal of painting a lot of the options open in the WoC list, so far I don't have that many but expect this page to be bigger in the future.

Daemon Prince (Tzeentch/Nurgle)

This is my try to do an dual mark DP. But as the main colour here is blue most people including me tends to view him as an Tzeentch DP. I made some green colours on him as well to try to justify him being a Nurgle DP as well but the more I thought about this the more I think that it doesn't work. I could try to 'Nurglify' him as I have started to do on my Nurgle Warriors and Gorebeast but I don't really want to mess the paint job up on this one just to make him look a little more Nurgle. So Iv'e decided to paint up a new one to have as a Nurgle DP, and in the meantime this one can work.

Tzeentch BSB on a Daemonic Mount

A choice I will probably go with in most lists is this one, which I finished painting up during the summer (2013). I am really fond with the result if I may say so, especially the free hand design inspired from a banner in a old Champions of Chaos book (5th ed I believe). I don't think anyone will argue about this one being marked Tzeentch, Iv'e used the colours I have as the main colours in the army (Enchanted blue and washed black and then re highlighted) and also a lot of gold, typical Tzeentch colours. I have also incorporated some of the designs I try to paint throughout the whole army, like the red eyes.

Sorceror on foot/disc

The first character model I made for my WoC army was this one, a Tzeentch Sorceror. I made some modelling on him to make the burning skull as seen here. It is showing it's age now though I think, he still looks quite good but he doesn't fit with how I paint the warriors right now. I have some ideas on changing the flames for normal red/orange/yellow flames and tidy up the rest of the paint work. I will make a new Sorcerer before though and he works as is as well.

Throgg the Troll King

The first and only special character Iv'e painted for my WoC army is the Troll King himself. Couldn't restist painting up this guy and well he totally badass in the game as well which is of course a bonus. Really like the model actually and the "Finecast" version I got was actually really nice, nothing to complain about.
