Miniature Monday: Lord-Celestant on a Stardrake

A long while since I made an update here, I needed a break I suppose. I won't go into why and what not because that isn't interesting. What is interesting is that I haven't taken a break from painting, It's just that I have had a hard time actually finishing anything.

Partly because of this dude I'm showing you today. My second large model for my Lions of Sigmar Stormcast army is complete, and it's a really big one, the Stardrake. The rider is actually magnetized If I felt I wanted a Drakesworn-Templar instead (haven't painted him up yet though).

Even if this model took a long time for me to paint up I really enjoyed painting this, and I'm really happy with the end result. Also he looks great together with the rest of the army.

Will try to do more updates in the future, but I will be moving this month along with a lot of other stuff so I can't promise anything. Anyway hope you like it.

Miniature Monday: Freeguild General on a Griffon

Yup it's that day of the week again, missed posting for some weeks now but have a lot of stuff painted and some big projects I'm working on at the moment. Anyway, today I finished my General on a Griffon. Iv'e had this model since it was released in 8th edition (it was 8th right?!) and I built it, loved the model. But it never go any paint on, sadly. However, now in AoS they are quite nice in the game, and still looks cool as ever!

You may have noticed I used most of the Karl Franz (RIP) parts to make this model, I think it works very well in the AoS setting and I hope it does goes well together with the rest of the painting scheme I have on my Order army.

Miniature Monday: Retributors and army so far

Actually finished these two weeks ago but I haven't had time to take new photos, I have almost finished one of my Fulminators (I totally forgot how time consuming the Drakoth riders are!!) and working on five more Protectors as well.

Have been ill as well last week so not much updates for the blog as I had hoped to despite all the great things GW puts out! Like the new Stormcast book, will maybe do a review of that or more likely put together some lists I looking at for my first ever upcoming Tournament in April.

Until then, here's some pics of the army as well as the finished unit of ten Retributors.

Miniature Monday: Retributor Prime

So just a quickie today and an almost totally finished Retributor Prime. Did an small conversion on this one. I added a Tzaangor head from the Darkoth Chieftain sprue from Silver Tower and put some green stuff on. Like the result and makes it a little more unusal. More pics of him and the rest of the unit in the next couple of days.

Miniature Monday: Second unit of Judicators for my Lions of Sigmar

Actually finished these two weeks ago but never got around taking pictures of them. Well here's my second unit of my Judicators, painted them up quite fast (for being me) and with a better result than the first unit. Not much to say really, no conversions or anything, but I used the Realm of Battles bases for all of them and they are actually really nice to work with. Just need to add some more texture, stones, dirt and what not, but I liked how they turned out.

Thats all for today, working on my Retributors next and most of the base colors are done, so probably finished until next Miniature Monday. Cheers!

Miniature Monday: Converted Free Peoples Cannon

After seeing Chris Peach's really cool looking Free Guild/Peoples army I got an itch I needed to scratch. I wanted to convert something similar and looked through my bitz box and found this Thunderbolt Crossbow from my Judicators kit. So I tried on a Mortar and voila. Added some more bitz in there and painted it up with a crew. Didn't do as much on the crew though, but I liked how it turned out.

I posted the first pictures during the last week on Twitter and both Chris and Duncan Rhodes from Warhammer TV among many others really liked it! I was happy as a kid in a candy store.

I must continue to paint my Stormcasts, but I think I must squeese in a model or two for my Free Peoples army. Oh and I have some Tzeentch stuff coming my way as well! OMG not enough time. Anyways, hope you liked this little conversion, I sure liked making it and painting it up.

Miniature Monday: Lord-Celestant on Dracoth

Just a quick update today. This is my first Lord-Celestant on a Dracoth and I currently painting up another one (together with a lot of other stuff). But the first dude that came in the starter box didn't have a Thunder Shield, and now they have these awesome shields. So I needed to do add one to this dude as well, and the model looks even better now!

Sorry for the small update but didn't have much else that is finished, but working hard on my Fulminators at the moment.

Miniature Monday: Moonclan Grots

Something else than Stormcast this Monday, Iv'e started a small project of repainting and rebasing my Orcs and Goblins, now Orruks and Grots in AoS. I went with black and orange as a colour scheme and I really like how these little fellas turned out.

It was fun to paint something else than Stormcast armour for a while as well but I will come back to them really soon. But for now here's the first ten Moonclan Grots.

Miniature Monday: Stormcast Eternals Paladin Protectors

Continuing working on my Stormcasts, and I really worked hard to pretty much paint these guys up during the past week.

I don't know if it show or not but a lot of time and effort is in the armour itself with all the highlights and what not. It's worth it though because the whole miniature is covered armour.

I really like the Protectors both as how the models look as well as in the rules, and I'm glad I'm finished with these guys. The sad thing is that I'm working towards having ten of these, ten Retributors and ten Decimators, so far five Retributors and five Protectors are done. But I'm getting faster painting these guys actually so... I'll get there.

Until then here's the first five. Next up is some gaming actually during the weekend and painting wise I will paint up something different. Probably something for Silver Tower but we will see. Cheers!

Miniature Monday: Lord-Celestant

This dude took more time than he should have. Probably because I decided to go with white on the one side of the cloak and the purple on the other. This took a lot of time, also I just wasn't happy with how he turned out. So I did white on his helmet as well and some other stuff and in the end I was happy with the result.

So one more hero for my stormcasts, I now have two more in the pipeline, the Stardrake and the Knight-Venator, both models takes a lot of time. Have done most on the Stardrake though.

But before I finish them I want to finish my protectors. Have done the base colours so hopefully they won't take to much time. I want to finish them and one of the heroes before this years end, hopefully even more because I'm looking for reinforcements :)

Miniature Monday: Retributors finished!

Painted two more Retributors, one with the Starsoul Mace and one regular guy. So now it's a full unit. Want five more though and three more Starsoul Maces but that will have to wait a little, next up is the Lord-Celestant on foot and five Protectors.

That's it for now.

Miniature Monday: Knight-Vexillor finished!

Continueng too finish more characters for my Stormcast army, this time it's the OP choice that many Stormcast players uses too throw in their best units into the enemy, the Knight-Vexillor with his mandatory pennant of the stormbringer.

Not much too say really, he is like most stormcast models too paint. But I'm happy with the result and that brings my army up too seven painted characters! Have some more characters as well as many troops as well. So will continue to paint up this army and it's still a lot of fun. Please tell me what you think!

Miniature Monday: Knight-Heraldor

Currently painting some characters for my Stormcast Eternals, showed you the Lord-Castellant two weeks ago and now I have finished my Knight-Heraldor as well. And it was an quite easy model to paint as well, especially compared to some of the models I have been painting lately like the Hurricanum and the Star Drake I'm painting right now.

So nice and easy, but I really like this model, and will eventually get the other Heraldor model as well.

Miniature Monday: Ghoul King

Something unusual for this Miniature Monday. This is the first Ghoul King for my brothers Flesh-Eater Courts army.

I did a light skin on him as my brother wanted and made a little bit more interesting base for him as the model is leaping forwards and I think he has to leap from something, as this particular model is on foot an not on a Zombie Dragon or Terrorgeist.

In the end I really dig the result, not much details to paint so the focus is on the skin and I had to shade it down some further and highlight it back up to get some nice transitions, and trying to keep the depth of the shade in the meantime as well.

Looking forward making some games against this army and think it will look awesome when it's finished.

Miniature Monday: Lord-Castellant and Gryph-hound

After I finished my Hurricanum I really got up to speed on my Stormcast Eternals. Currently painting a lot of characters and more Retributors. Also thinking of buying some more Stormcast stuff to give me more choice when it comes to army building. Mainly stuff so I could field an Skyborne Slayers battalion. And more Judicators of course, five is far from enough.

Anyway, first up of the finished heroes is one of my favorite Stormcast models, the Lord-Castellant and his pet the Gryph-hound.

I painted all the things before I decided to try an OSL effect on the lantern with my airbrush. Really nerve wrecking but I think it really made the model look more interesting. Tell me what you think!

Miniature Monday: Celestial Hurricanum finally finished!

I remember when I painted the War Altar of Sigmar, and I thought, this model takes forever to paint! Well that was nothing compared to this model, same chassis but damn it has a lot of stuff going on.

Don't get me wrong, I loved painting it. And I love even more the fact I'm now finished with it!

I'm really satisfied with how it turned out, and with the colourscheme it works both with my Stormcast Eternals and my Free Guild. So that's all for now, finally I can paint other stuff again!

Miniature Monday: Freeguild Guard and Demigryph Knights

So I thought I didn't have enough projects, so I also started to rebase and repaint my old Empire army, now the Freeguild. That is the hardest thing with AoS resisting not to start a new project all the time. Not something I'm good at but at least I'm mostly sticking to the armies I already have.

Anyway, I felt the urge to transform my Empire army into an AoS army and use them together with my Stormcast Eternals. Not that hard if I just rebase them, but I can never do just that... So I did some repainting, mostly touch ups, but also redid the purple to better match with my Stormcasts. Thought about changing the yellow for white as well but that would take to much time so I went with this.

Thats a start at least, much more to do here and I will treat this as a little side project for now.

Miniature Monday: Excelsior Warpriest

Hey there, just finished this dude, the Excelsior Warpriest and his pet Gryph hound. I actually played Silver Tower the other day and I played with this dude, really great, the gryph hound did me proud many times in the two sessions I played. Really really fun game as well by the way, so will continue painting more Silver Tower stuff among all the other projects I have.

Hope you like and see you next time.
