Miniature Monday: Orruks and Grots!

Continuing on my work on converting my Orcs and Goblins into Orruks and Grots (ugh... hate calling them Grots... ) for Age of Sigmar.

This is not only a change of base from squares to rounds, I also repaint them quite extensively into the new colors I think I will go with for my Forces of Destruction. Mainly black and orange, also I redo their skins into real green skin even if it's paler to most Orc/Goblin skins.

Anyway, I quite like how they are shaping up. Please tell me what you think.

Miniature Monday: Savage Orcs greenskinized!

Strange title but if you saw an post I made a while ago (found here) you understand what I mean. I have made my ungreenskinz green, not by that much though in my opinion and I do think I like this version better and I think it will make the the whole army more diverse. Also I feel much more inclined to work on my greenskins now, even though I have several other projects I need to do before I start to work more on them.

Not much more to add really but big thanks to you who helped me decide. I much appreciate it and I hope you like the result (the ones who wanted me to change that is :P).

I kept the old skintone on the Savage Ogre here to make him stand out more.

Poll: Should I paint my 'un'greenskinz green?

I haven't done anything with my Orcs & Goblins for a long time, and part of it is because I got tired of colorscheme and in this case mainly that they aren't green. In my opinion they do look good in the skin color I have, but they may look better if they are green, even if it's just a slight hint of green. Here's some comparioson pics I took of the old ungreenskinz and of old ungreenskinz with an wash of Warpaints Green Tone ink.

This means that if I go and repaint them green, this won't be a huge time consuming thing. But I will get a totally different look on the army. Please help me out here and additional comments are more than welcome. Thanks!

The poll widget in Blogger does seem to work correctly, Iv'e tried to redo it several times now but with the same result. So if you want to can instead make a vote in the comments section to this post instead.

News: WH Forge Night Goblin Squig Gobba

Finally something new released from Warhammer Forge! Got the latest Wh Forge Newsletter and it features the new Night Goblin "war machine" the hilarious Squig Gobba which we have seen before. Now it is finished and out for order, and I must say I am a little tempted. The model is really cool and fun, I just hope to see we will see something for the other types of goblins as well in the next Wh Forge book, Night Gobbos already got plenty of stuff.

Anyhow the model is cool and I may buy one in the future to have as an count as Rock Lobber.

Down below are what they wrote about in the Newsletter as well as some pictures. For more info and pics go to their website here.

Night Goblin Squig Gobba
The Squig Gobba, as it is known by the common soldiery of the Empire, is a fearsome sight amongst the Orc & Goblin hordes. Dragged and prodded onto the battlefield by its malevolent Night Goblin tenders, it is a huge beast with an oversized gaping maw, a set of extremely powerful lungs and a ravenous appetite to rival even that of a Troll!
With the Squig Gobba heavily chained into position to prevent it bounding off after the first tasty morsel it spies, its tenders start dragging lesser squigs from the cages surrounding them as battle is joined, slicking these vicious beasts with foul-tasting noxious liquids. This not only renders the creatures senseless for a short time, but also prevents the Squig Gobba from immediately swallowing them as the stunned squigs are unceremoniously stuffed into its jaws!

Soon the Squig Gobba’s mouth will be full to bursting point, with thick globs of frothing acidic saliva dribbling constantly forth. Then it is only a matter of time before one of two things happen: either the Squig Gobba will vomit forth its mouthful of now monumentally furious lesser kin, causing chaos and panic on a grand (and thoroughly disgusting) scale amongst the enemy army’s ranks; or the great beast itself will explode in a blazing fireball, as the Night Goblin ‘concoctions’ that coat the squigs react spectacularly with the Squig Gobba’s stomach juices.

The Night Goblin Squig Gobba is a multi-part resin kit designed by Keith Robertson. This improbable war ‘machine’ is packed with detail, from the terrified squig being lifted into the maw of the Squig Gobba, and the variously panicked and angry munitions being spat into the air, to the cruel and sneaky Night Goblin tenders themselves. This fantastic kit is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 31st May, and you can download a set of experimental rules from the Forge World website now.

There's also Warhammer Forge pictures of the Orc Command with an cool looking Orc Boss and Bsb with an banner made of an Wyvern wing, really cool looking models. News: Night Goblin Command from WH Forge!

Feels like forever we got a new release from WH Forge now, but at last a new release is here and this time it's Night Goblins.

The text below is from the WH Forge Newsletter and pictures from their website where you can find even more.

Night Goblin Command Set
Prevalent throughout the Old World, the Night Goblins of the Worlds Edge Mountains have developed into a sun-hating sub-species of the greenskin race. Considered particularly vicious and cruel for their kind, they are infamous for their cultivation of dangerously hallucinogenic fungus and their skill at rearing the bizarre and improbable Cave Squigs.

Individually cowardly, when Night Goblins gather in massed ranks they are renowned for their maliciousness, and it is the Night Goblin Warbosses and Big Bosses that most epitomise this bullying spite, having risen to their position through treachery and backstabbing. In battle it is common for one of a Warboss’s underlings to be given a tattered, filthy and terribly ostentatious battle standard. Unlike the proud colours carried by other armies, the primary function of this banner is not as a symbol to rally around, but instead to boast of the power and majesty of the Warboss himself.

The most powerful (or most foolhardy) of these warlords sometimes ape the heroes of other races, and ride to battle on Great Cave Squigs, hand-reared at the cost of many dozens of Night Goblin handlers. The natural ferocity and toughness of these obnoxious beasts is also often augmented by crude armour plating, bolted and nailed to the Squig’s thick hide.

Night Goblin Shamans are sinister and crazed individuals, due to their consumption of huge quantities of the powerfully hallucinogenic fungus for which the Night Goblins are renowned. Their spells are malicious and spiteful, much like the Goblins themselves, and often accompanied by unnecessary additional effects such as puffs of oddly coloured smoke, obnoxious smells, and overly loud bangs.

The Night Goblin Command Set, designed by Keith Robertson, contains three multi-part resin models: a Night Goblin Warboss on Great Cave Squig, a Night Goblin Boss carrying a Battle Standard, and a Night Goblin Shaman. All are packed with fantastic and characterful details, from the severed beards and skulls of slain Dwarfs, to the heroic, martial pose of the Warboss and the malicious grin of the Squig he’s riding, to the sign of the ‘bad moon’ forming in the smoke billowing from the mouth of the Shaman.

This fantastic character set is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 25th January.

Comment: I like the look of all three, I hope they will sell them separately as well later on though.

Goblin Wolf Riders Conversions

As soon I saw the Fenrisian Wolves box with five wolves the first idea in my mind (and probably for many other O&C players) was to use them as mounts for my Goblin Wolf Riders as the current ones are really old. Sadly the idea didn't get further and when I saw these up on eBay for a good price I couldn't resist.

Normally I don't like to buy "pre"painted or "pre"converted models as I want to do these things my self. But when I saw these and how good they looked I just needed to buy them, as It would have taken a lot of time for me to do them my self If I ever came to even trying.

So here you have them, ten uniquely converted Goblin Wolf Riders. The thing I like the most is the really dynamic poses, a total opposite to the old really static looking Wolf Riders. I know all the bitz used but the heads which I don't recognise at all :S. Anyone who knows? Hope you like them as much as I do and next time you see them they are painted hopefully.
