Unboxing X-Wing: Z-95 Headhunter

A long awaited cheap rebel ship arrived in wave 4 for X-Wing: The Miniatures Game, and it's no other than the Z-95 Headhunter, the precursor for the X-Wing.

The design of the ship is so nice, I might even think these look better than the X-wings. The paintjob is really nice as well, I might do some touch ups but it is far from necessary.

You get the usual tokens and markers of course, nothing really new here.

You get two reference cards as well, you probably have these already though.

You get four ship cards as well, two really cheap generic pilots and two named (also really cheap though) pilots.

For last we also have five upgrade cards. Two Elite Talents (Wingman and Decoy) both which is only found in this expansion so far. You also get two secondary weapons (Ion Pulse Missiles and Assault Missiles) and the new card in this Wave which looks to be popular (can be found in the Tie Defender expansion as well), Munitions Failsafe.
Conclusion: All in all very impressed by this expansion, the ship design is fantastic and I really like it being a cheap alternative for Rebel players where you might need a extra ship or two in your list. It being able to have missiles as well makes them cheap weapon platforms as well. You get some nice named pilots as well and some really nice upgrades which some are only found in this box as of now.

Unboxing X-Wing: Rebel GR-75 Medium Transport

So here's my first X-Wing unboxing. I know there's plenty of them out there already, and made by people who actually know stuff about the game (I have only played it a couple of times so far). But well I do my own anyway so you get an unboxing from a total n00b:s perspective.

So on to it then, the GR-75 Medium Transport, as seen in the good old movies.

Quite a lot of content in this box, apart from the GR-75 and all things tailored (cards, tokens etc.) for it you also get an X-Wing, which is always nice.

You get a a lot of Tokens , both old and new as you can see.

The ships looks really nice, don't know if the scale is right to be honest but it looks fine either way.

Love the details on the GR-75, and the paint job is actually really nice with different colors on the cargo containers and what not. Really impressed actually.

The paint job of the new X-Wing in this box is also really nice. Not only does it offer you a alternative color scheme it's also much more well painted that the first edition ones (at least the ones I have) as you can see above. I'm even consider not doing any painting upgrades on this one.

As you can see, big difference.

One Ion Token card, six W-Wing pilots where's the four named ones is new. And one Ship card for your GR-75.

You get 20 Damage Cards for your GR-75. 10 Fore and 10 Aft. as you can see on the bottom of the cards.

You get a total of 24 Upgrade cards in the box, among them two upgrade cards for only the GR-75, you also get three titles for this ship. Some other interesting cards for games other than with Huge ships is the Flachette Torpedoes who you get three of (you only get them with the E-Wing otherwise)

You get four crew cards but these only work with Huge Ships, you also get four Astromechs which can only be found in the box so far.
I like this box really much, I was impressed by the details of the GR-75 and the paint work on both of the ships. You also get a lot of nice stuff even if you aren't going to play a lot of games with Huge Ships. You get four new pilots for your X-wings, new Astromechs and other usefull cards as the Flachette Torpedoes. Nice mix of stuff and awesome looking ships, what more do you need?

Miniature Monday: X-Wing repainted!

One of the best things with X-Wing: The Miniatures Game is that the ships comes pre painted, for a lot of people anyway. For me this is still the case but as a painter I have to paint some, despite the original paintwork being okey at least.

I will not to any massive re paints though, I will not strip the paint (don't see the reason for this at all to be true) and will not spray over the whole miniature to start from scratch. Might do this later on with some ships but for the majority a little re painting will do the trick for me.

And that is what Iv'e done here. I used the original colors and shaded it and then highlighted it up to this result. Will upload a Tutorial on how I went on soon!

Not sure about how this looks, might need a redo for the engine lights.

Comparison with an model without any repainting.

Starting Malifaux and X-Wing!

You could have thought that when you have like a thousand or so of unpainted miniatures that you just can't get rid of other than to actually paint them, you should not get any more. You have plenty to do already! Well I'm not that kind of guy and even if I do paint more and more stuff each year, so my unpainted collection also gets bigger and bigger, there's just so much cool stuff out there!

One thing I had before though was that I didn't spread into different game systems, for many years it was just Warhammer Fantasy and Wh40k until some years ago when I also bought some Mantic Kings of War stuff. Then came the kickstarters, and even If I resisted many of them last year I could not resist Warzone: Resurrection, Deadzone and Robotech: RPG Tactics so I added three more game systems last year. And now it's time for two more!!

Malifaux

I have been checking this game system out for quite a while but could not resist any longer. In the end I bought a M2E Rulebook, a Fate Deck and the Open Graves box (punk zombies are just too cool). The reason I needed some models and want to try this game is because of four main reasons.

1. Really cool and unique looking miniatures.
2. No dice but it's based on normal playing cards, interesting.
3. Steam Punk Western setting? Yes please.
4. You don't need that many models for a game (I will buy much more though, they are just too cool)

X-Wing

Another game I have heard so much good things about is X-Wing from Fantasy Flight games. I finally did the jump into the game just some hours ago when I bought a package of several ships from an auction site (Tradera, swedish eBay) as you can see below. I follow my normal philosophy about these things, if you go in you go in big. Down below are the reasons I got into this game.

1. You don't need to paint them, hurray!
2. Starwars is Starwars, and well most of us have loved the ships since we where young.
3. Heard so many good things about the rules, and it sounds easy and fun but also tactical.

Yeah well what all for now, you will probably see some articles and post about these game systems in the future, so keep coming back ;).

Just bought it so I haven't received this lot yet. Eager to have it in my hands though.
