Miniature Monday: Khorne Skullchrusher

All I do currently is about AoS, I'm building terrain, assemble models, paint models, rebasing and repainting.

For this model I did the last two, I first repainted him quite a lot. Some of you might have seen how my old Skullchrushers looked liked, if not you can find them here. I always liked how they looked before, but back when I painted them I wanted a unified looking force with models from all the Chaos gods. As my force was mainly Tzeentch I painted them blue.

As I said, I liked the look.... but well, Khorne in blue... it's just feels wrong...

Now in AoS I went with an totally other idea, separate all my Chaos models into smaller Chaos God specific armies... With different basing, different colors and so on. It's not as versatile when it comes to do games, but it's going to be more fun and varied when it comes to painting and basing each army instead.

Anyway, went with a more traditional red theme on one of my Skullchrushers to try it out. And well, I'm really happy with the result. I also redid the shield a little and it looks better now I think.

Sorry about the poorer picture quality this time around, was in a little bit of a hurry when I took the pictures. Comments are much welcome!

Review: Age of Sigmar Starter Box- Part 1 Unboxing

I'm a little late here, but I didn't want to go with just an little unboxing for the new AoS Starter but rather a full review of it, the components, about the new rules fluff etc. So to do this it will take some time. So I will do this review in parts, and first of all lets go trough what you get in the box (all of you know these already but hey got have in there)

Really nice box cover

At the back you can see what you get in the box, nice and clean.

All the components in the box.

You get two of this sprue with both Liberators, Prosecutors and Marau....ehm Bloodsreavers.

GW shows us once again why they are the best modelmakers in the world when it comes to plastic,.

Where you have to cut out the parts is most often on the best possible places to avoid damaging the model, the hardest onces is the helmets for the Liberators.

Here we have the "command" and monster sprue for the Chaos models

It does takes a lot of time to cut out every parts and glue them together but most of the models are easy to put together.
Under the sprues we have the big bases, dice and transfer sheets. And of course the books.

Manual for putting your models together

It does it's job as good as it should be, the sprues are marked with letters both for the parts but also for the different sprues so you know you are looking on the right sprue.

At the back you see all the models built.

The rule"book" on four pages, nicely laid out.

You don't get any graphic examples like we are used to. But the rules is so simple that in most cases it isn't needed at all. More about the rules in a later part of this review.

The campagin book you get is 96 pages.

Lovely and of course new artwork trough the book.

You get some history, extra info about the armies (especially the Stormcast Eternals) not like an army book but will get more of this in later campaign/scenario books I'm sure.

You get some variant painitng schemes and easy painting tutorials for both armies.

You get six easy scenarios meant to make you learn how to play the game.

There's some old models in the book as well, all nicely painted of course.

And you get the Warscrolls for everthing that comes in the box.

Warscrolls in the book is nice but it would have been even better if we could have had them on separate cards or something. When I played against a friend of mine we had to flick trough the scrolls and give the book back and forth between us.

Almost done with the Khorne models as well but here's the full army of Stormcast Eternals. Looks really nice I must say.
That's all for this part, more in depth about the different things in the box will come in later parts so be sure to come back for that.

WIP Wednesday: Chaos trolls and Forsaken

Just as the Miniature Monday posts I try do to every Monday I will also try to do these showing some WIP photos of the stuff I'm working on at the moment.

Today It's some Warriors of Chaos models. I have come up with how I will paint my Forsaken and it will be a fairly common color scheme there, and with red torsos because I will usually use them as Khorne. However I want to use them as any mark really so I go with this Undivided look.

For the trolls I keep on my blue/grey theme but I painted these up using my Airbrush, which I really do need to practice on and these models are really nice to do that. Quite happy with how they look now but will add a lot of washes and highlights before these are done and hopefully they will look just as good as the ones I have painted previously.

So that's it for it today, now back to watch some Football and paint some models.

Warriors of Chaos: Skullcrushers unit finished!

You know that satisfying feeling when you finally have finished a painting project. I have that right now and that is because the Skullcrushers unit is finished! Don't get me wrong, it's really fun models to paint up but they do take some time to finish up. And I have been working on them now for a while so it will be nice to concentrate on some other projects now when these are finished.

Just like the first one (the one in the middle) I went with the army wide blue colour scheme and well I must say I like the final result. Was really doubting at first but now when they are done I think it works quite well, despite being blue Khorne followers.

So here they are, c & c is as always very welcome.

WoC: A blue Skullchrusher!

Khorne players weep as I paint my Skullchrushers blue instead of red! If you have followed this blog a little in the past you may know that I'm trying to do a mixed mark WoC army but I want most of it to be blue. Which we all know is a Tzeentch colour, and that will also be the main deity for the army even if I mix in more and more Nurgle for some reason :O.

Anyhow Nurgle was quite easy to think out how to achieve this, but Khorne was harder and the main reason I haven't finished painting any of them for so long. You can see the result below and I went with having mostly blue but quite a lot of metal (which had a red glaze over it as well) and Brass of course. I also went with the fiery theme for both shield (the unit will be called Burning Skulls or something) and the ensorcelled weapon. So what do you think?

I'm back! (and have been doing some Hobby time)

Hi there guys, been away a while now doing RL stuff so haven't been able to do much posting here.
Also I haven't done that much hobby stuff either but I have painted some at least, so this post it
pretty much to declare I'm back in action and also what I have been doing lately hobby wise.

Painting
First of all I continue to paint my Gorebeast Chariot, and soon my friends that one is finished, have some final highlights to to on the chariot and some more stuff to do on the riders. Further with my WoC I have also started to paint up some more Nurgle warriors so I can try to finish up that unit this year at least, I'm almost finished with a little Plaguebearer unit filler for them as well which I will show you soon.

I have more projects planned for my WoC having some Trolls on the way soon hopefully
(have been waiting for these for three weeks now but they haven't been shipped yet) along with some more stuff like Festus and some Daemons stuff as well.

As for my other armies and Empire in particular I haven't been painting much for the lately will take up them again with an focus on finishing my Greatswords, Flagellants and Knights.

Converting and building
Not much here, in the summer I started to convert a Nurgle Daemon Prince based on Chaos Space Marine Helbrute from the Dark Vengeance box. Haven't done much to him yet but a pic can be found on my Twitter. I will convert more Daemon Princes (you may need a lot you know :) ), one Khorne which I will also use as a Bloodthirster for the Daemons I want to. I will also to another one looking like a Tzeentch one, may double him as an Lord of Change as well if the conversion works and when I think about it, maybe even the Nurgle DP can be a Great Unclean One, I just need to make him really fat.

Reading
Have been waiting for my White Dwarf to arrive and it arrived today! It has never been so late and normally I get it one day in advance. So have just flipped through it yet and it follows the same formula I think, I do like the new Lizardmen models though and the book looks quite promising as well. Lizardmen have never been my favourite army but I do like the minis more and more, both new and old.

That's all for now folks, will do more updates from now on.

WoC: 2400 pts Mixed marks Armylist

So many options when it comes to list building in the new WoC book and that is pretty awesome. I wrote up a Mono Tzeentch one last time but now I went with a mix of different marks, mostly Nurgle and Tzeench but also some Khorne with the Skullchrushers.

I also went with a Daemon Prince in this one, and he is also a level 4 so many eggs in one basket but hopefully he can stay alive from cannons long enough so he can get into combat. I will also make some variations on this list, you can for example go for two cheaper DP:s instead of this Overlord one. One option is also to go with Trolls either with or without Throgg instead of either chariots or one of the Warriors blocks. Trolls is nice to have in the list as they can protect the DP from cannonballs.

Anyhow, here's one version of the Mixed Mark list, please tell me what you think about it.

News: Warriors of Chaos pics from Nov WD!!

Pictures of Skullcrushers, Hellstriders, a new Scyla model, Warshrine, Festus and Valkia. So a lot of new models for my WoC, unfortunalty I'm not that sold yet. The jugger knights looks good,  Got this from Warseer, it's from a Austrian member 'Kurl Veranek' who got White Dwarf early and he put up some photos of the new WoC stuff. Not super great quality but you see how the stuff looks at least.

Also here's some rules:

Rare Choice:

Skullcrushers
Jugger Rider 60pts per model
unit size 3+
can take lances and a standart up to 50 pts
same weapon rules as knights
WS5 S4 T4 W2 I5 A2 LD8

Juggernaught
WS5 S5 T5 W1 I2 A2 Ld7
Fear
Will of Chaos
monstrous Cav
Magic Res 1
Mark of Khorne

Special Choice:

Hellstriders

Slaanesh Rider 19pts
WS4 S3 T3 W1 I5 A1 Ld7
Shields and Spears
light Cav
can get always strikes first for the first round of combat for 1pts
Mark of Slaanesh
Fear and Will of Chaos
poison (mount)

Soulhunter:
Unit destroyed
1+ devastating charge
2+ stubborn
3+ 4+ Ward

All in all not that impressed, but hey it may look better IRL and when you can paint and convert a little yourself they will probably look better. The Skullcrushers and Hellstriders looks pretty much like I thought, and I like the first one the second one though I have never liked the concept of. The Warshrine I dond't know what to think of, it's a little to much going on I think and the whole model looks to busy. Some parts of it like the models riding it and the 'chaos ogres?' holding the thing looks cool though and will make really nice bitz as well. On the characters is kind of hard to tell, but both Festus and Valkia looks pretty much as the artwork from the current book. Scyla got an new much bigger model, never liked the old one but I don't know if I prefer this one either. Easier to say when we get some better and more pictures. What do you think?
